JLE#8: Time Strategies

Image
Time Management  Photo by Andrew Neel from Pexels     I find it useful to read almost anything, so the reading associated with time management strategies is even more of an incentive to read.  I have always considered myself disciplined, but I get distracted and end up procrastinating from time to time.  In  The Psychology of Checklists by  Lauren Marchese , I found it to be helpful when she suggested the SMART acronym.  Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound goals and/or tasks are essential to my everyday lifestyle.  Upon reading the article I came to the realization I somewhat use this acronym in my head, but never write it down where I can see it.  I think if I write it all down it might be potentially more productive and satisfying.  Also, in 4 Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination, by  Peter Banerjea  he writes about four simple questions and the psychology behind them.  I like the idea of asking these questions to oneself because I feel that it is

JLE#7: Technology

Image
Technology    Photo by Aleksey Kuprikov from Pexels I am mostly familiar with all of the technology tips provided in the wiki tools link.  This online experience differs from any other in view of the fact that I am mostly blogging for all of the assignments.  I have never had an experience like in the classroom like this before so I am excited to see what this has in store for me this semester.

JL#6: Assignments

Image
Assignments  Photo by Michael Block from Pexels I am eager to read the stories everyone will be sharing in their blog posts.  It will be an opportunity to learn about a lot of stories I have ever heard.  The orientation week assignment in which we read previous student's stories was fun and I enjoyed doing it.  I usually have not enjoyed projects in the past, but the projects in here seem like they are different in how we complete them.  It should be a little different than what I have had to do in the past so I am looking forward to giving it a shot!

JLE#5: Growth Mindset

Image
Growth Mindset     Photo by Julian Jagtenberg from Pexels  I have never heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before.  I have typically listened to military leaders and coaches talk about mindset.  I would definitely say I have embodied a growth mindset since my first year of school here.  I have applied it to academics, fitness, relationships and certainly some other areas of my life.  I have learned that it really takes a lot for me to learn so I need to prepare.  Since doing so I have taken the statement "learn to plan and plan to learn" seriously.  Biggest challenge about learning is anxiety about how challenging it might be.  I absolutely will be interested in learning more about growth mindset and strategies.  I am worried about Spanish this semester because it has a lot of volume in regards to its material.  It will be challenging to memorize and keep up with numerous homework assignments.

JLE#3: Storybook Favorites

Image
Port Royal, Jamaica The Legend of "Calico" Jack Rackham https://sites.google.com/site/thelegendofcalicojackrackham/home       I have heard of the Legend of Jack Rackham because I had purchased a game years ago that had a character based off of him. From what I read in the story the game did a decent job at portraying him! I was impressed with the creativity as well as how well written the introduction was. aside from me being interested because I knew of the legend, the introduction made it clear I was already hooked in. The design was super straightforward, and I had no issues navigating between tabs. This design may not be the most creative, but it is more than enough to get the job done and still match the story. The lost Tales of the Avatar  https://sites.google.com/view/losttales/introduction?authuser=0 I have also heard of and watched the television series that this storybook is based off. I was really into it when I was younger, but recently watched it ag

JLE #2: Favorite Place

Image
Chi-town The Bean at Millennium Park Photo by Chait Goli from Pexels I enjoy Chicago mainly because I have family that lives just outside of the city.  Chicago is a super fun place to be, but it gets very cold.  Millennium Park, Hancock Tower, and the Chicago Theatre are a few places everyone should visit if they go.  There is plenty of stuff to do in the city other than visiting all the tourist spots as well.  Deep dish pizza is also something everyone should try if they go downtown.
